The original Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study advanced the understanding of the relationship between childhood adversity and later physical or psychological outcomes. However, there are limitations to applying population-level ACE research findings to individual clinical or forensic cases and specific limitations of the ACE Questionnaire, itself.
