The adversarial model that continues to prevail in most family court systems is not always the most effective method for resolving family matters. The Family Resolution Specialty Court (FRSC) in Massachusetts represents an alternative. FRSC allows families to opt for a more benign approach leading to greater collaboration between parents and a resolution of their issues. Problem-solving courts are designed to promote resolution, shifting the view of family court from a negative experience to more of a collaborative process, as professionals help families navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives.
