Sexual Abuse Interviews: Not for Amateurs

Mindy F. Mitnick, Ed.M., MA

Family law professionals often work on cases with allegations of child sexual abuse. While they do not conduct investigative interviews with children, they do seek information from suspected and known victims in their roles as guardians ad litem, minor’s counsel, judicial officer, parenting plan evaluator, and parenting coordinator. Sexual abuse interviews must use reliable methods including establishing rapport, targeting questions to the child’s developmental capacity, and sensitively seeking details when needed. This advanced webinar will provide valuable guidance on obtaining reliable and relevant information from children in cases with sexual abuse allegations.
